Wilfried Nancy stated he had no concerns about dismissal, asserting, “The team is extremely close to things turning around,” in the wake of moving dangerously close to the exit with a comprehensive defeat by the Ibrox side.

A Second-Half Capitulation Leads to Old Firm Disaster

The Hoops were in front Rangers at the break but a second-half capitulation allowed Rangers to draw level on points with the defending Scottish Premiership champions. The French coach, who was brought in in December, has now presided over six defeats in his last eight matches.

“There is unity with the board,” insisted the manager.

Asked directly about his own future, Nancy responded: “It’s not on my mind. I concentrate on discovering solutions to get the team to improve on the fine details.

Supporters' Anger Erupts

Hundreds of supporters displayed their anger – aimed at the board and manager – by gathering at full time. The board are reportedly likely to return to Martin O’Neill, who had a fruitful temporary stint previously, if the Frenchman were sacked.

“It’s the results [that leads to pressure]. And that’s the reality for the moment. But by saying that’s how it is, I am not saying that I am a defeatist guy. No. What I mean the turnaround is near, extremely close to turn things around.”

Focus on the Details

Nancy remains focused on the fact his team play well for a half at a time. For instance, if not for wastefulness in front of goal they would have been better than 1-0 up. “There were positives other than the fact that we didn't take more goals,” he said. “I know that we lost, but I have also to be objective.

“The standard we had at certain moments was of top quality. That happened. I could not speak so positively if it was not the case. But that’s why, regarding outcomes, I noted it's a repeating pattern. Which is why I said that a change is coming to things turning around. Currently: details, details, details.”

“There were a lot of encouraging signs that we did, once more. The issue now is consistency. My outlook would change if I didn't believe it. This is why I am a big believer we’re going to be able to turn things around.”

The Rangers Boss Stance

Rangers manager was cautious about a serious challenge in spite of what seemed like a huge result. “We take it game by game, and we can really build up momentum,” he said. “The belief in the team is outstanding.”
