Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
