The Renowned Musician Urges Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The notable list of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The song blends a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The team running the project have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a specific target,” a figure commented. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the region was described as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
