The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' mantra that draws so many people into the National Football League
That result could have created opportunities for the New England Patriots to creep back into a leading position they formerly held, with a remaining games that provides them an advantage over their eight and two competitors
Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation next week, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the MVP award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had won seven in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were second best from the beginning as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and display
MVP Josh Allen only achieved the team's opening first down in the third period and first points in the final quarter - yes Miami had ten days to prepare but it was still a significant failure laid by one of the NFL's top offences
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two touchdowns but running back De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Containing the NFL's top running game was crucial too, with Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the year and just over fifty percent their 161.5 yard average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the scoring area resulting in a nine-minute drive yielded no points, and his final quarter dropped ball that Miami turned into seven points just two plays
It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defensive side and Josh Allen trying to overcompensate to rescue his squad out of it - not the calm, controlled, well-balanced Bills we've witnessed this year
Miami have served up a bit of everything this season so the jury's out on if this is the start of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the New England are sneaking into a nice lead at the top of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Regarding the Patriots, they're one of three eight and two teams in the NFL, all American Football Conference teams, but are they the best?
One could pick holes in New England, the Broncos and Indianapolis really for dominating the lesser sides, with only five of their combined twenty-four victories coming against opponents with a winning record - and one example was the Indianapolis beating the Broncos
The Broncos defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can ride Taylor, but the New England including Sunday's win in Tampa Bay to their prime time win in Buffalo appears to be a declaration
Their two defeats came in new head coach Mike Vrabel's first three contests, with seven straight wins, just like the Broncos, since then - but defeating Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to get ready was huge
Drake Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he definitely deserves point for courage after taking some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his side to success
The defensive unit is solid and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22 miles per hour this year on his initial touchdown
While you can debate who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the top record thanks to their schedule - which features just one game against a winning team, although a significant contest against the Bills
Traveling to Baltimore is challenging too, but the Broncos have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Chiefs to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also compete for top seed but encounter the identical challenge) and additionally the Packers on the schedule
The Indianapolis also face the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jacksonville to face. There's a long way to go but the door is open for a shock number one position in the AFC
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with solid claims to be better than all of the three different eight and two teams are National Football Conference West rivals the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who both scored forty points to reach seven and two ahead of the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster game between the pair in LA
Both have secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with top receivers, and defensive units allowing under 20 points a game
Both could realistically be undefeated as well - especially the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning field goal with the final play blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a score
The Seahawks also lost to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in week one, before losing to the last kick of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they are truly two of the top teams in the NFL
The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season so far
Player of the Week - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor could be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Berlin - running for 244 rushing yards, registering three scores and contributing an additional 42 {receiving yards
