Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the club's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I feel the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase like this with outcomes this poor.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
